A first for me during a retouching project for Six:Trente: working with AI while maintaining consistency across generated images.
The compositing work took almost as long as the multiple rounds of image generation.
For the client BMW x Mini, it was important to preserve a sense of realism and avoid the overly simplistic pitfalls of AI — the kind where “everyone can tell it’s AI anyway, so why bother making it realistic.”
That’s why the shoot itself is real, and so are the cars, but some elements integrated into the environment were generated.
150 generations later, and after a significant amount of photo compositing work, we arrived at a result that we’re satisfied with.
